The FDA approved the sunscreen filter bemotrizinol for U.S. use, the first update to permitted UV filters since 1999. Used in Europe and Asia since 1999, bemotrizinol is described as photostable, minimally absorbed, and offering stronger UVA protection, with U.S. products expected after an 18-month exclusivity period.
